CHANNEL ONE SOUNDSYSTEM

Channel One is one of the World’s top Sound Systems playing Roots & Culture music. With owners Jah T and Mikey Dread, the set up has been trodding the road for over 25 years.

Anyone who has attended Notting Hill Carnival over the last 25 years will no doubt have come across the Channel One sound and selector Mikey Dread - who regularly pull a crowd of ten thousand people. Mikey's father, himself a soundman from the 50s, passed his system to his sons in 1979 when it was reborn as Channel One, named after the Hookim brothers record label that revolutionised reggae production in the late 70s. Since then Channel One has played throughout the UK, including Glastonbury and the University of Dub - where they regularly headline.
